Kimerer LaMothe, philosopher, dancer, and scholar of religion, is co-founder of Vital Arts, a center for arts and ideas, located on a farm in upstate New York. After earning a doctorate in the Study of Religion from Harvard University, she spent eight years at Brown and then Harvard Universities, teaching, writing, and dancing. During this time she received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and the Center for the Study of World Religions. Following a dream, she moved to a farm where she now lives with her partner and their five children. In her latest book, What a Body Knows: Finding Wisdom in Desire, LaMothe weaves insight and anecdote to offer a compelling vision of the wisdom in our bodily selves.
