Yes... Buzz Lightyear IS named after Buzz Aldrin! The second man to put foot on the moon's surface is quite the icon!
But there's more to Buzz than the first successful space walk, and being one of the first guys on the moon. With a Ph.D from MIT, Aldrin devised the docking and rendezvous techniques for spacecraft in Earth and lunar orbit that became critical to the success of the Gemini and Apollo programs, and are still used today.
Currently on a whirlwind tour around the world to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the the lunar landing, Aldrin will spend an hour with us on August 6th. And are we excited!! If YOU have any questions that you would like to ask Buzz, please email me now... or call in to the show.
We'll be lifting off this Thursday at 1pm PT, 4pm ET with Buzz Aldrin on A Closer Look with Pam Atherton. Countdown preparations have begun!
